40GBASE-IR4 transceiver
Complete Connect’s QSFP+ 40GBASE-IR4 transceiver plugs directly into any QSFP+ high-speed data port and give 40 Gbp/s Ethernet up to 2 km using Singlemode (9/125) fibre.
This transceiver has an LC duplex port and transmits over 2 fibres using four different wavelengths each transmitting 10G packets. The signal cannot be split with passive fibre cabling and so can only connect to one other QSFP+ transceiver.
Cabling
LC duplex singlemode fibre patch cables to patch to panels.
Functionality
This QSFP+ transceiver converts the 4-channel 10Gb/s electrical input data into CWDM optical signals by a driven 4-wavelength Distributed Feedback Laser (DFB) array.
The optical signal is combined by the MUX to 40Gb/s. The receiver module accepts the 40Gb/s CWDM optical signal input and de-multiplexes it into 4 individual 10Gb/s channels. Each wavelength is collected by a discrete photo diode, amplified by a TIA and then outputted as electric data.
Optical engine | Uncooled 4 x 10Gb/s CWDM transmitter |
Data rate per channel | 44.00 Gbp/s (maximum) 11.2 Gbp/s (per wavelength) |
Wavelength | 1271 nm, 1291 nm, 1311 nm, 1331 nm |
Optical Power Output | 8.3 dB max |

40GBASE-PIR4 (PSM4) transceiver
Complete Connect’s QSFP+ 40GBASE transceiver plugs directly into any QSFP+ high-speed data port and give 40 Gbp/s Ethernet up to 2 km using Singlemode (9/125) fibre.
This transceiver has an MPO port and transmits over 8 fibres working as 4 pairs each transmitting 10 G packets. The signal can be split with passive fibre cabling to connect to four 10 G ports.
Cabling
MTP (MPO) singlemode patch cords or MTP (MPO) to LC duplex 8 fibre breakout cables. The MTP (MPO) port has an 8 degree angled endface and requires MTP (MPO) APC connectors.
DDM
An on-board micro-controller provides control, diagnostic and monitoring information via a 2-wire serial interface and the electrical connection is achieved through an MSA-compliant 38-pin edge type connector. The module operates by a single +3.5 V power supply at a low 2.0 W.
Data rate per channel | 44.00 Gbp/s (maximum) 11.2 Gbp/s (per lane) |
Wavelength | 1360 nm |
