40G Fibre Cabling
The M400 Series: from the UK’s MTP® specialists
M400 SERIES OVERVIEW
40G SR4 and PSM4
The M400 Series
The M400 Series is a complete range of fibre cables for BASE-8 parallel fibre networking. This includes 40GbE over both multimode (SR4 transmission) and singlemode (PLR4 PSM4) fibre.
This series is designed for use within large and small data centres where network managers need to incorporate high data rate channels alongside existing fibre infrastructure.
To ensure excellent optical performance, Complete Connect use only high grade components (low loss LC ferrules, the MTP® ELITE® connector, Corning® reduced bend sensitive glass) and multi-stage machine polishing.

Cables, breakouts, cassettes and panels
The M400 Series supports different data centre network requirements
There are M400 cables for every application.
These include everything from creating new stand alone 40G channels to converting existing fibre infrastructure to carry these higher data rates.
For more information on how M400 cables can be used see the Applications section.
M400 Series cables are compatible with other cabling brands and all active equipment
All Complete Connect cables are made to exceed international cabling standards and are compatible to other cable brands that meet the same standards.
All MPO type connectors used are the MTP® branded connector from US Conec and all use the ELITE® MT ferrule. This ensures that Complete Connect M400 cables will give the same performance of used with brands such as Corning’s EDGE-8, Commscope’s 360 or Panduit’s QuickNet.
M400 Series cables are made using Corning Clearcure® and Corning SMF-28e® glass core for multimode and singlemode respectively with a a dry loose tube micro construction and will offer high levels of physical and optical performance
WHY CHOOSE COMPLETE CONNECT’S MX SERIES?
An MTP (MPO) fibre specialist
Our customer’s give us various combinations of reasons why they have chosen both Complete Connect to be their fibre network
preferred supplier and the MX Series in particular. These reasons can be distilled into three main areas:
Our Direct Service
Complete Connect provide an end-to-end service.
We only sell our own products, which means our customers have one point of contact when it comes to specification, customisation, purchase, and delivery.
We can operate this “total service” business model and have the scale and scope to provide such a specialist service because of our focus on MTP® (MPO) fibre cabling.
Product Availability
Gone are the days when you need to wait weeks for a product to be made and delivered.
We have a huge stock of the MX Series in our UK warehouse alongside a wide range of MTP® (MPO) cables that support 10G, 40G, 100G, 200G and 400G.
Our lead times are typically around 7 to 10 days from order received to dispatch.
Our Pricing Structure
Compared to large multinational companies and other major brands, we enable our customers to reduce project costs without compromising on quality.
Our focused business model and economies of scale on production mean we can maintain quality product performance while making customers savings.
CREATE DIRECT CONNECTIONS OR CHANNELS
40G SR4 and PSM4
40G over multimode fibre
Connecting two QSFP+ or QSFP28 SR4 transceivers which are physically close together can be achieved using an M400 multimode patch cord. Complete Connect stock these in both OM3 and OM4 up to 20m with other lengths made to order.
40G can also be transmitted via other multimode transceivers, such as Cisco’s Bidi transceiver. These require different cables.
40G over singlemode fibre
There are two types of transceivers for 40G. One type requires duplex fibre links (e.g. LR4) and one type uses 8 fibre links and utilises the MTP (MPO) multi-fibre connector.
40G FIBRE CHANNELS
40G BREAKOUT CABLES
One switch to multiple servers
40GbE over multimode fibre
A QSFP+ or QSFP28 SR4 transceiver transmits using 4 x 10G (or 25G) channels. These are separated using an MTP to LC duplex (x4) 8 fibre multimode breakout cable. Complete Connect stock these in both OM3 and OM4 up to 20m with other lengths made to order.
40GbE over singlemode fibre
It is only possible to breakout QSFP+ and QSFP28 PLR4 (PSM4) transceivers. The 40G signal from an LR4 (or ER4) transceiver cannot be broken out into 4 parts. M400 Singlemode MTP – LC breakout cables are part of our standard stock.
40G BREAKOUT CASSETTES
One switch to multiple servers
M400 Cassettes within housing panels
The some connectivity as above can be created using an M400 Cassette. Each cassette can breakout up to three QSFP+ (or QSFP28) ports into up to twelve SFP+ (or SFP28) ports.
M400 cassettes are available in both multimode and singlemode fibre. Complete Connect also offer breakout cassettes within our MX Series.
When to use this approach?
Typically the use of M400 MTP-LC Breakout Cassette Modules is ideal when the SR ports are split across multiple racks. One cassette located at end-of-row can be patched into a row of racks. This approach reduces rackspace requirements and also reduces cabling costs.
40G TO TWO 20G
M400 conversion cables
Splitting one 40G port to Multiple Ports
There are several different options when connecting QSFP28 100GbE transceivers to other ports.
Example: Splitting one 100G port to two 50GbE Ports
A 100G port can be connected to two 50G ports using an MTP conversion cable. 100G SR4 QSFP28 transceivers transmit over both multimode and singlemode as 4 x 25GbE channels. These channels use 8 fibre cores (4 fibre pairs) and require MTP (MPO type) connectors. The 8 fibres connected to the 100G transceiver, which include 4 Tx signals and 4 Rx signals can be directed as pairs to up to four other transceivers. In the case of connecting to two 50G transceivers then 4 fibres go to each 50G transceiver.
Rest assured, what ever your requirements, Complete Connect’s M400 Series will have the right cable.

MORE THAN OPTICAL LOSS BUDGETS
We see Network Performance as delivering on your business needs
Complete Connect look at network performance beyond the channel loss. A high performing network has to do much more than meet the international standard on optical performance. We measure performance in terms of network flexibility, adaptability, speed of change and level of service we provide.
If network change restricts business performance then the network is not performing. If the network is too costly or difficult to maintain and upgrade it is not performing.
Complete Connect work with network managers to ensure they are supported to meet the demands of their business day after day.
ENSURING OPTICAL PERFORMANCE
Quality Components | Great Termination Equipment | Rigorous Processes | Constant QC
Ensuring consistent high performance across every manufactured product starts with using the right components, glass cores and cable construction. Consistent low loss terminations not only require adherence to specific processes but also require using high quality termination equipment. Finally, all products need to be physically and optically tested to ensure a performance standard will be met.
Complete Connect’s first priority is to ensure every product meets a level of performance that is above all the required international standards and also that it maintains our reputation for optically superior performance.
MAKING CHANGE
Remove the hassle, reduce the cost
Achieving a flexible and adaptable network
For us this is all about enabling these two questions to be answered; do I have the component parts to make the changes I need and can I get these component parts easily and quickly to enable me to actually make the change?
If the answer to both these questions is yes, then network upgrades, expansions and modifications become straightforward. The MX Series does just this. It gives you all the components you need and on timescales that enable changes to be made quickly and easily.
