MTP to LC Breakout Cables

Polarity 40G SR4 to 10G and 100G SR4 to 25G

MTP to LC breakout cables are available in two types; fibre cables over multimode which are used in the transmission of 40G SR4 or 100G SR4 and 12 fibre cables which are used in 10G/25G duplex networking.
Complete Connect’s M400 MTP to LC breakout cable is an 8 fibre cable with a polarity that enables one QSFP+ transceiver (or QSFP28 transceiver) to be connected to either 4 x SFP+ transceivers (SFP28) or four LC ports within patch panels or MTP cassettes.
All stocked MTP to LC breakout cables have 0.30m LC duplex tails. Bespoke options are available with different length LC tails in either a staggered or a non-stagger configuration.  Each MTP to LC breakout cable is fully tested and made with ruggedised LC patch cord style 2mm tails which are held by a hard plastic breakout unit.
QSFP+ transceivers which support 40GBASE-SR4 have ports with a male connection. These require an MTP to LC breakout cable with a female MTP connector.
To ensure optimal performance, all M400 Series products including our MTP to LC breakout cables use an MTP connector with an MT ELITE ferrule and LC high grade low loss ferrules.

Connector Options on Tails

Compatibility with QSFP+ transceiver modules
  1. All QSFP+ 40GBase-SR4 transceiver modules have ports with male connections (with guide pins).
  2. The MTP cable needs a female connector (no pins)
  3. Transceivers from the leading switch manufacturers such as CISCO, Juniper, Extreme, HP, Dell, Arista and Brocade all use an MT ferrule.
  4. All Complete Connect 40G cables use the MT Elite ferrule within the MTP 12 fibre connector. This provides the best optical connection with all major QSFP+ transceivers. Some MPO connectors wont perform as well.
Compatibility with SFP+ transceiver modules
  1. SFP+ transceiver modules have ports that accept LC duplex fibre connectors.
  2. LC multimode connectors using singlemode high grade ferrules will ensure the best perfromance when splitting 40G into 10G channels
Cleaning MTP cables and transceiver ports
  1. Complete Connect recommend using an IBC Branded MTP cleaning tool for cleaning all MTP cables and QSFP+ transceiver ports.
  2. Complete Connect will supply this free of charge on orders of four or more 40G cables

  1. The IEEE standard states that 400G can be transmitted at the following distances: OM3 less than 100m; OM4 less than 150m.

Complete Connect’s M400 Series MTP to LC breakout cables are for connection between ports in racks within data centre environments to enable SR4 and PLR4 channels. Available in polarity SR4 to 4 x SR, these MTP breakout cables enable connection between QSFP+ / QSFP28 transceiver ports and SFP+ / SFP28 ports respectively. They also enable connection between transceivers and LC patch panels for connection to existing fibre networks. This enables new QSFP+ / QSFP28 ports to be connected to adjacent racks, pods of racks or distribution areas.
M400 Series breakout cables are compatible with all transceivers and other MTP trunk systems without any loss of performance including BASE-8 fibre systems.
All M400 Series cables have a micro cable construction which gives them a small diameter, a low weight per meter and a low bend radius. Their intended use is to run between data racks in easily accessible overhead cable trays or open ducting systems separate from power cables or heavier copper cables.
